CSLO #3: Critique game day statistics and outline strategies for improvement. Demonstrate advanced competitive basketball defensive skills; 2. Demonstrate basketball game strategies; 3. Identify, analyze and react to competitive situations orally and physically; 4. Identify and react to the different types of defenses; 5. Examine and demonstrate different types of passes; 6. Evaluate and demonstrate right and left-handed lay-ups; 7. Analyze and demonstrate free throw techniques; 8. Describe and discuss inbound plays under the opponents basket; 9. Evaluate offensive alignment and man-on-man plays; 10. Analyze and demonstrate offensive zone strategies; and 11. Demonstrate a higher level of skill corresponding with course repetition. A rubric will be used to score the assignment and a traditional grading scale will be used. Skill Demonstrations Example: Perform the steps to shooting a jump shot. Video analysis will be used to assess the skill. Rubric Grading. Repeatable Yes Methods of Instruction Laboratory Distance Learning Lab: Discussion by the instructor on the various defensive scenarios. The students will examine the scenarios and discuss in small groups. (Objective 4) Instructor will lead a discussion on the various passes used in the game. (Objective 5) The students will perform free throws and establish a routine. The instructor will evaluate the free throw form and routine. (Objective 7) The instructor will discuss how to perform a right and left hand lay up. The students will demonstrate the techniques used to properly perform a right and left hand lay up. (Objective 6) Distance Learning The instructor will lecture on inbound plays under the opponents basket. The students will diagram the plays and create an inbound plays chart. (objective 8) Typical Out of Class Assignments Reading Assignments 1. Read assigned pages from the textbook and be prepared to discuss specific information that can be attained from a scorebook. 2. Read current magazine articles regarding defensive strategies, and be prepared to discuss the findings in class. 3. Analyze game film and discuss is small groups. Writing, Problem Solving or Performance 1. Perform the proper technique for shooting in transition based on defense. 2. Using live game situations the students will have to problem solve offensive situations. 3. Analyze opposing players and develop a personnel scouting report.
