CSLO #2: Demonstrate team play, sportsmanship and fair play during practice and game competitions. CSLO #3: Exhibit fitness levels that enable the student to compete in intercollegiate soccer. CSLO #4: Identify and apply basic and advanced formations and strategies in a soccer game, based on intercollegiate rules. Recognize and compose basic and advance formations, high level game strategies, intercollegiate rules and layout of playing field; 2. Perform fundamental and advance skills: dribbling, passing, finishing in front of goal, receiving, tackling, heading and goalkeeper play; 3. Exhibit team play, sportsmanship and fair play during practice and game competitions; 4. Describe and perform principles of offense and defense; 5. Attain fitness levels that enable the student to compete in practice, games, and the duration of the season; and 6. Exhibit a higher level of skill corresponding to course repetition. Example: When competing against a 4-4-2 in a 4-3-3 formation, defensively what do the center midfielders need to do to mark up the outside midfielders? Rubric grading. Skill Demonstrations Example: Student will be required to perform 8 of 10 headers into goal from a given spot on the field. Pass/Fail grading. Repeatable Yes Methods of Instruction Laboratory Distance Learning Lab: Instructor will facilitate a class discussion about offensive strategies and students will be placed into small groups where they will construct an appropriate defensive strategy to deal with the offensive strategy previously addressed by the instructor. They will then be required to explain their strategy to the instructor. Example: Based on a high pressing defensive 4-3-3 formation, what would be the best way to break the press if you have a fast striker? (Objectives 1 & 4) Instructor will discuss and demonstrate dribbling techniques, followed by student demonstration. (Objective 2) Distance Learning Discussion by the instructor on advance formations. The students discuss this topic in small groups. (Objective 1) Instructor will lead a discussion on the principles of offense. The students will discuss this topic in small groups.
